Kathleen Sheffield M.Ed., LCMHC, NCC

I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor with extensive experience working individuals and couples.  I work with a range of clients many of whom are looking for more productive ways to manage their thoughts, feelings, relationships. In particular, I partner with clients experiencing challenges around their relationships with self and others and navigating life transitions and stuck points.

I work to provide high quality clinical care for by collaborating with clients to increase awareness of the mind-body connection, identify sources of pain/suffering, limiting beliefs, increase emotional management, and utilize practical strategies for coping, relaxation, and distress tolerance. I strive to cultivate a safe environment for adults to explore present concerns, heal past pain, and promote positive strategies for relating to self, others, and the world.  Confidentiality, compassion, education, goal-oriented treatment, and utilizing evidenced based practices including CBT, DBT, EFT and mindfulness are priorities.

Prior to Private Practice I was at  the Domestic Abuse Project of Delaware County, outside Philadelphia, PA, as head of clinical services working with women and children impacted by various forms of abuse. In particular, my focus was to partner with women seeking to heal trauma, establish healthier relationships with themselves and others and to rebuild lives of hope. In addition I worked with young adults and families struggling to navigate the difficulties and frustrations of adolescence at Child Guidance Resource Centers and The Light Program. I have
a passion for health and wellness and the importance of looking at the whole person mind, body, spirit.
